Radio Killed The Video Star
Do you want the good news or the bad news?
Ok, I’ll start with the bad news.
Thursday is typically when I post about the most recent episode of The Shock Absorber podcast and the conversations that Stuart Crawshaw,
, and I have about all things church, culture and church culture. However, due to technical difficulties, we were not able to record last week. However, in exciting news, I’m going to jump out of The Shock Absorber for a few weeks so that our Arts Pastor, Brayden Wall, can jump in with Stu and Joel and talk about the Theology, Strategy and Practice of our “Arts” ministry at Soul Revival Church. At Soul Revival, “Arts” is our catchall title for the elements of the formal gathering: it includes “creative arts” such as music/worship, sound and tech, but also Bible reading, prayers and preaching.
I’m looking forward to the discussion that these three will have. If you want to listen along, you can subscribe to The Shock Absorber on your favourite podcasting app or on the Soul Revival Church YouTube page.
And now for the good news…
The Child In God’s Church on the Airwaves

In the last few weeks, I have had the opportunity to talk with a few Christian Radio stations in Australia about my book, The Child In God’s Church. Beneath the confident veneer of SubStack writing and up-front speaking, I’m actually a reluctant self-promoter. Therefore, I am thankful for the media team at Youthworks for lining up a few contacts and for the interest people are showing in these ideas.
My highly published sister-in-law, Karen (check out her work at Hivemindedness.com) encouraged me early on to be excited about the ideas because I genuinely believe that they will benefit the church. That is it! That is the message, and I pray that it continues to resonate with those who listen.
Without any further ado, here are the chronicles of my adventures in radio land.
Hope 103.2
Hope is one of the largest Christian radio stations in Australia. I was able to have a brief 5-minute chat with Ben McEachen about children’s ministry, TCIGC, and why we ought to take the discipleship of children seriously.
1WAY FM
If you were driving home on Thursday and listening to Canberra Christian radio, you may have heard me chatting with Moonsun at 1WAYFM about Youthworks College, training for vocational ministry, and the value of intergenerational discipleship in churches.
Listen to 1WAY FM (segment starts at 48:38)
ICYMI
Earlier in the year, Vision Christian Radio also gave me an extended spot to talk about the book, Children’s Ministry and take a few calls from listeners. If you missed it, you can listen back to this program below.
